ELKO – The adult education program congratulates Beau Piffero on passing his high school equivalency test.

The 18-year-old Piffero received his HiSet certificate in November, which it took him around a month and a half to obtain.

He also received a La Fiesta gift certificate for his performance.

He watched his sister complete the program and decided to enroll a few months ago. “It was always a thought,” said Piffero. “When I was in high school, I didn’t think I had to actually use it until I started not doing well in school.”

Piffero credited his instructor Judy Wintermote with her support and answering all of his questions. “I like the style of the program, for example, that I just come in and study for a test instead of all of the unnecessary stuff in a normal school,” he said.

The program is “definitely worth it,” said Piffero, recommending it to anyone with questions or concerns about signing up. He added that it wasn’t what he expected.

“When I started, I was concerned that the material would be developed, but as long as you study you will do well.”

In his spare time, Piffero likes to “relax at home and play on my computer”. He plans to move to Arizona and start construction.
